LLAMAS RACE IN LLANGANATES PARK

LLANGANATES, ECUADOR – FEBRUARY 8: Ecuador celebrates the traditional llama race or ‘llamingada’ every February 8 for World Wetlands Day in the Llanganates National Park. It is an ancestral activity recovered 10 years ago, in which children between seven and twelve years drive their flames, hoping to win the race. The Llanganates National Park is one of the most important wetlands on the planet. The activity is celebrated with children, because they are the future caretakers of this park. It also aims to thank Pachamama, mother earth, for its fruits. (Photo Pacha Mayulema/ChakanaNews)
